Westminster Presbyterian is a member of Westminster FISH, Inc. (The fish is a symbol of Christian Faith.)
It is a partnership between Westminster United Methodist Church and our church, working together to support our community in a practical way. The purpose of FISH is to provide emergency food supplies to those in need. Since opening in 1996, we have provided over 1.8 million meals to families in Westminster.
We are also a proud partner of Foodbank of the Rockies. Discounted food is purchased from the Food Bank of the Rockies. Additional food items – primarily bakery and dairy - are donated weekly by local grocery stores. Food is also donated by members of the WPC congregation, local organizations, and community food drives. The amount and kind of food available varies based on donations and availability from the Food Bank of the Rockies.
Want to Help? Support FISH by Donating your time, money and food items! Every little bit helps!
We appreciate all food donations, however, sometimes even small monetary donations can go farther. As a partner of Foodbank of the Rockies, we are able to purchase food at a greatly discounted rate compared to what an individual could purchase at a grocery store. A small monetary donation really does make a big difference! Please note that ALL giving designated for FISH foodbank goes directly to purchasing food to distribute to those in need.
Ways to give Financially:
GIVING through the OFFERING PLATE is an easy way to support FISH. Many of our church members give regularly to FISH on a weekly or monthly basis. Some have set up a weekly, or monthly ACH or automatic withdrawal of a specified amount through their bank. This is a very easy and convenient way to give without ever having to remember a check book on a Sunday morning. Contact your bank and ask to set up an automatic withdrawal benefiting FISH Foodbank of Westminster Presbyterian Church.
REACH for CHANGE jars are available from the church office. Fill the jar with your spare change and return it on the first Sunday of each month. It is truly amazing how much a little change can add up.
FUNDRAISERS are a huge help as well! Throughout the year, a variety of fund raisers are held to support FISH from food drives to Art exhibitions to Flapjack breakfast and many more. Participate by giving and/or by volunteering to help with an event! We are always open to hear about any ideas you may have!
There are many volunteers from our church and beyond who are actively giving of their time one or more days per week. They pick up food, stock shelves, and serve as hosts in the distribution of food. Volunteers also fill boxes, keep records and coordinate fundraisers and food drives. There is something for everyone!
